Powering Kindness Campaign

The SU of Marino College are taking part in the Powering Kindness Campaign for the Marie Keating Foundation- we think it’s a great initiative for students as it is not asking for time or money and so it’s an ideal way to encourage them to support a charity. It’s also encouraging students to be kind to one another, and that’s always a good thing in the long month of January!

Its very easy to get involved- teachers and/or students simply need to do something kind for one another or celebrate when someone does something kind for them. An act of kindness can be anything, big or small. Some acts of kindness in a school might be:

  • Holding the door open for a fellow student
  • Picking up a pen or a book that someone has dropped
  • Helping to put all the chairs on the tables at the end of the day

During Powering Kindness Week, students/teachers can then go to www.PoweringKindness.ie or go on social media using #PoweringKindness and tag @mariekeating (please note that on social media, the hashtag and tag must be used in order to be registered as a ‘vote’).

The Marie Keating Foundation is on facebook and twitter and will keep an eye out for any activity and try to like and retweet as much acts of kindness as they can to show the students how much they appreciate their efforts.

SU Meeting

Hi All,
There is a  SU meeting next week – Tuesday 20th Jan at 1pm room 201.
I would like class reps to attend, exception to students on work experience.
All students report any concerns to your reps to discuss in the meeting.
Lets  make a plan for the rest of the year and organise a couple of student events.
Week starting the 2nd Feb, the SU would like to organise a “health week” and promote smoothies and fruit juices to be sold in the canteen from 11.00 – 13.00. If any students would like to participate and help out in organising this event please contact me asap.
I also have free gym pass for Westwood in Fairview to hand out to students during that week.
Best wishes,
Liz

Happy New Year – 2015

Welcome back  – 2015

Happy new year to all the students at Marino College. Sep -Dec 2014 proved to be very successful for the SU.

Well Done to Louise and Kym from the Dental course in organising a very successful variety show  in aid of Barnardos just before Christmas.

Many students of Marino College participated in acting, singing, dancing and playing music. The afternoon was most enjoyable and everyone had a fantastic time. The teachers participated giving a powerful version of ‘Winter wonderland’.

Q102 arrived to complete the raffle with lots of goodies… money was raised for a well deserved charity 🙂
